Walden Macht & Haran LLP has significantly expanded its team of associates and counsel to support the firm’s recent and future growth. The lawyers who have joined the firm over the past year have considerably broadened the range and scope of legal work across all practice areas. WMH’s recent non-partner hires include Derek Borchardt, Jeffery L. Ding, Christopher Dioguardi, Edward Dunn, Richard W. Fox, George W. Kroup, Stephanie T. Levick, Tricia R. Lyons, Jennifer A. Prevete, Amanda Senske, Veronica M. Wayner, and Kurt Weinrich. The new team members bring fresh ideas and perspectives to client engagements while simultaneously gaining unmatched practical experience working alongside seasoned attorneys in an array of notable matters. “Over the past year, we have added nearly a dozen new lawyers to our team,” said Brian Mogck, a partner at WMH and a member of the firm’s Hiring and Diversity Committee. “These lawyers have the skills and qualifications that matter to our clients — practical experience on complex matters, district and appellate court clerkships, and outstanding professionalism.   • Derek Borchardt – Mr. Borchardt is an experienced litigator who has asserted and defended claims of contract, fraud, deceptive trade practices, false advertising and defamation. In recent years, he represented a whistleblower sued for libel by several athletes whose Olympic medals were rescinded as a result of the client’s reporting. Mr. Borchardt maintains an active pro bono practice and recently represented two incarcerated clients in the preparation and submission of petitions for executive clemency to the governor of New York. Both petitions were granted and the clients were afforded early releases.
  • Jeffery L. Ding – Mr. Ding has represented financial services institutions and corporations relating to a broad range of areas, including antitrust, RICO, tort, and contract law. Before joining Walden Macht & Haran, Mr. Ding was a litigator at a preeminent global law firm in New York. He also clerked for the Hon. Nicholas G. Garaufis of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York. Prior to law school, Jeff worked as a propulsion engineer for The Boeing Company in Seattle.
  • Christopher Dioguardi – Mr. Dioguardi is an experienced litigator who represents corporations and individuals in criminal, civil, and regulatory matters. He was a key member of a litigation team that won an eight-day gender discrimination and retaliation trial in the Southern District of New York. Prior to joining Walden Macht & Haran, Mr. Dioguardi practiced law with a top-ranked employment law practice group, where he defended employers against discrimination, workplace harassment, and retaliation claims. He has also served as an intern to The Honorable William D. Wall, U.S. Magistrate Judge in the Eastern District of New York, and worked as a law clerk with the National Football League.
  • Edward Dunn – Mr. Dunn is a litigator whose practice focuses on white-collar criminal and securities litigation, representing corporations and individuals in criminal, civil, and regulatory matters. His notable pro bono experience centers on petitions for writs of habeas corpus for Afghan detainees being held at the U.S. Naval Station in Guantánamo Bay, Cuba, and representation of other indigent individuals charged in federal criminal matters. Prior to joining Walden Macht & Haran, Mr. Dunn practiced in the white-collar and securities litigation practice group at a preeminent global law firm in New York and served as a law clerk to the Hon. William J. Martini in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey.
  • Richard W. Fox – Mr. Fox is an experienced litigator who represents corporations and individuals in criminal, civil, and regulatory matters. Before joining Walden Macht & Haran LLP, Richard served as a trial attorney in the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of the U.S. Trustee where he was the lead attorney in numerous bankruptcy cases. Earlier, clerked for the Hon. Reena Raggi of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and the Hon. Dora Irizarry of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York. Prior to law school, Mr. Fox was an officer in the U.S. Marine Corps and served a one-year tour of duty in Iraq.
  • George W. Kroup – Mr. Kroup is a commercial litigator with extensive experience handling disputes that arise from sophisticated commercial arrangements and implicate complex statutory and regulatory schemes. He has brought matters to a successful conclusion in federal and state courts, U.S. bankruptcy court, and before administrative bodies and arbitral panels. He has conducted internal investigations for and responded to regulatory inquiries on behalf of his clients and has prepared witnesses for testimony to regulators. Mr. Kroup’s matters have often had a cross-border component where he has frequently worked with international counsel both to apply foreign law in U.S. courts and to help resolve foreign disputes that implicate U.S. law.
  • Stephanie T. Levick – Ms. Levick concentrates her practice in complex civil litigation, government and regulatory matters, internal investigations and white collar criminal defense. She has represented numerous clients before the U.S. Department of Justice and the U.S. Attorney’s Office in connection with automotive and environmental fraud investigations, OFAC sanctions violations, microcap stock manipulation, criminal antitrust and obstruction of justice matters. She also has represented individuals before the Securities and Exchange Commission, Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, and other regulatory bodies in connection with violations of the Securities Laws and other financial rules and regulations. Ms. Levick maintains an active pro bono practice and has represented clients in federal sentencing, post-conviction criminal appeals, clemency petitions, matrimonial and custody disputes and immigration matters.
  • Tricia R. Lyons – Ms. Lyons is a litigator whose practice focuses on government investigations, monitorships, and regulatory compliance. She has worked on a number of Foreign Corrupt Practices Act investigations, including cases involving allegations of bribes and kickback schemes in exchange for licenses and permits issued by foreign government entities or contracts with state-owned entities. Ms. Lyons worked for three years on the team of an independent monitor overseeing an automotive company’s compliance with its obligations under a deferred prosecution agreement (DPA) with the U.S. Department of Justice. She maintains an active pro bono practice representing clients in matters involving domestic violence and labor trafficking.
  • Jennifer A. Prevete – Ms. Prevete is a litigator whose practice focuses on complex commercial matters, government and internal investigations and compliance. She represents financial institutions and corporations in several areas, including antitrust, compliance, contract and tort. In response to the government travel ban, Ms. Prevete helped prepare an amicus brief submitted to several Courts of Appeals and to the United States Supreme Court as part of her pro bono practice. Prior to joining Walden Macht & Haran, she was a litigator at a preeminent global law firm in New York.
  • Amanda Senske – Ms. Senske is a litigator whose practice focuses on white collar defense, government investigations, and regulatory compliance. She represents individuals and corporations in both civil and criminal investigations, and advises financial institutions and companies on anti-money laundering, anti-bribery, and sanctions compliance. Ms. Senske has represented clients before the U.S. Department of Justice and the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
  • Veronica M. Wayner – Ms. Wayner’s practice focuses on representing clients in white collar litigation and government and internal investigations. She has extensive experience representing Fortune 500 corporations in commercial, employment, and insurance litigation and arbitration. Ms. Wayner’s pro bono work includes representing clients in successful petitions for asylum and counseling non-profit organizations in affirmative litigation.
  • Kurt Weinrich – Mr. Weinrich is an experienced attorney whose practice has primarily focused on electronic discovery, fact investigation, and analysis in the context of internal and government investigations and large corporate litigation. He has coordinated and managed document discovery review teams in matters concerning white collar criminal defense, subpoena compliance, internal and regulatory investigations, and large commercial litigation. Earlier in his career, Mr. Weinrich was a Deputy Attorney General for the State of Nevada where he assisted in representing the State’s largest business regulatory agencies in collection matters in both State and Federal Bankruptcy courts.
