WALDEN MACHT & HARAN ELECTS JAKE GARDENER TO PARTNER
NEW YORK (January 3, 2023) – Walden Macht & Haran, LLP (WMH), one of the nation’s elite white-collar criminal defense and civil litigation firms, today announces that attorney Jake Gardener has been promoted to partner.

Mr. Gardener was recently named to New York Law Journal’s list of 27 “Rising Stars” and to U.S. News – Best Lawyers “Ones to Watch” list. He has played a leading role in high-profile complex commercial disputes, constitutional litigation, and white-collar criminal matters. His ability to identify and clearly convey compelling legal arguments has resulted in numerous landmark victories. For instance, in 2022, Mr. Gardener secured historic victories in multiple states at the trial and appellate levels for the healthcare rights of hundreds of thousands of elderly and disabled retired civil servants. In 2021, he obtained dismissal of a multi-million-dollar case brought against Tripadvisor involving novel issues of statutory interpretation under the Helms-Burton Act. And in 2020, on behalf of the District Attorneys Association of the State of New York, he successfully argued that the Commission on Prosecutorial Conduct and its enabling statute were facially unconstitutional.
Mr. Gardener is a graduate of Yale Law School, where he was senior editor of the Yale Law and Policy Review, after earning a bachelor’s degree with honors and distinction from Stanford University. Prior to joining WMH, Mr. Gardener clerked on the Second Circuit for the Hon. Dennis Jacobs and in the Southern District of New York for the Hon. Naomi Reice Buchwald. He also served as an FDNY firefighter for several years as a member of Ladder 43 in East Harlem.
